Financial Planner – East Midlands (Field Based)

An established and fast-growing financial planning firm, part of a wider professional services group, is seeking an experienced Financial Planner to join its expanding Midlands team. This is a field-based role with a strong focus across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire, alongside occasional travel to London and the wider Midlands.

This opportunity suits a commercially minded adviser who thrives in a building role. While there is support via inbound and internal referrals, success in this position will come from your ability to generate and convert new business, build trusted relationships, and establish a sustainable client bank. A key element of the role will be working closely with accountants and other professional services colleagues to identify and maximise cross-referral opportunities.

The business operates an unrestricted employed model and is part of a high-growth, private equity-backed group. It has recently been recognised within the FT Adviser Top 100 and named among the Best Firms to Work For at the Professional Adviser Awards 2026.

Salary and Benefits
• £58,000 to £72,000 basic salary depending on experience
• Attractive bonus structure
• Long-term career progression within a growing national group
• Strong infrastructure and support, including a centralised investment proposition
• Opportunity to inherit and develop an existing client base alongside building your own

The Role
• Manage and grow a client portfolio across the East Midlands region
• Attend multiple office locations, building strong relationships with senior teams to unlock referral opportunities
• Work closely with accountants and other professional services colleagues within the wider group to generate new business opportunities and cross-referrals
• Generate new business through proactive networking, professional connections and internal collaboration
• Handle inbound enquiries and convert leads into ongoing client relationships
• Conduct detailed financial fact finds, assessing income, expenditure, risk tolerance and financial objectives
• Deliver tailored financial planning advice aligned to client goals and regulatory standards
• Recommend suitable strategies using a centralised investment proposition
• Maintain accurate, compliant and well-documented client records
• Conduct regular client reviews and adapt strategies as circumstances evolve
• Achieve agreed revenue targets and contribute to overall regional growth
• Increase awareness of financial planning services across the group and build trusted internal relationships

About You
• Level 4 Diploma qualified as a minimum, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Financial Planner or Financial Adviser
• Experience managing client banks of 150+ clients
• Strong track record of converting leads and building long-term client relationships
• Proven ability to generate new business and grow a client base
• Experience working alongside accountants or within a professional services environment would be highly advantageous
• Employee Benefits experience would be beneficial but not essential
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Strong technical knowledge across financial planning, products, regulation and compliance
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and documentation standards
• Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently in a field-based role
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the Midlands and to London when required
• Holds a current Statement of Professional Standing

Why Apply
This is a genuine growth role within a collaborative professional services environment. You will have the autonomy to build your own client bank while leveraging strong internal relationships with accountants and other specialists to drive referrals and long-term opportunities.

If you are looking for a role where you can take ownership of your success, develop high-quality client relationships and play a key role in a growing, well-backed firm, this could be the ideal next step.
