Trainee Financial Planner

  • Witney
  • Permanent
  • £40,000 - £50,000 + Bonus and benefits

Job details.

An established, highly regarded independent financial planning firm is looking to appoint a Trainee Financial Planner to work closely alongside a Senior Financial Planner / Director as part of a structured succession and development plan.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Level 4 qualified Paraplanner or Trainee IFA who is ready to take the next step into a fully client-facing advisory role, with exceptional mentoring, training and long-term career progression.

The opportunity

This role has been designed for someone who wants to become a fully authorised Independent Financial Adviser in the near future, rather than remaining in a technical or support-based position.

You will shadow and work directly with a highly experienced Senior Financial Planner/Director, receiving hands-on exposure to client meetings, advice construction and relationship management.

Full ongoing training, guidance, and structured development will be provided throughout.

Once signed off as competent, you will be transitioned onto a full client book, enabling you to build your own long-term advisory career within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shadowing and supporting a Senior Financial Planner/Director in client meetings
  • Gradually taking responsibility for client interactions and advice delivery
  • Undertaking a structured training and development programme with a clear pathway to becoming a full IFA
  • Assisting with suitability reports, recommendations, and ongoing client servicing
  • Managing and developing client relationships over time
  • Conducting the majority of client meetings via video, with some office-based and occasional face-to-face meetings

Upon successful completion of training and sign-off:

  • You will be provided with a ready-made client bank
  • Typical client investable assets range from £150,000 – £250,000+
  • Full autonomy to manage, grow, and develop your client portfolio

Candidate Profile

This role would suit:

  • A Paraplanner or Trainee Financial Planner looking to move into an advisory role
  • Someone genuinely motivated to become a career Financial Planner / IFA

Essential requirements:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS or equivalent)
  • Strong client-focused mindset
  • Ambition, professionalism, and long-term career focus

Salary & Benefits

  • Basic salary up to £50,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus structure
  • Full company benefits package
  • Long-term career progression and succession planning

Working Pattern

  • Initially office-based (5 days per week) during training and onboarding
  • Moving to hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home) once established

Why Apply?

  • Clear, supported route to becoming a fully-fledged IFA
  • Direct mentoring from a senior adviser
  • Guaranteed client bank once signed off
  • Join a professional, client-focused firm with high standards and long-term vision
