Practice Manager – Financial Planning

  • Gloucester
  • Permanent
  • £50,000 - £60,000 + bonus and company benefits

Job details.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Manager to join a highly regarded, boutique financial planning practice in Gloucestershire. Fully independent and known for its client-focused approach, this is a business that takes real pride in the service it delivers, the relationships it builds and the positive impact it has on its clients' lives.

With a small but highly successful team, the practice has built a strong reputation and is continuing to grow organically. It is a genuinely supportive and collaborative environment where people are valued, contributions are recognised and there is a shared commitment to doing things the right way. The business is now looking for a capable and commercially minded Practice Manager to play a pivotal role in its ongoing success, providing the structure, leadership and operational oversight needed to support the team today and as the business continues to develop.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, the Practice Manager will be a central figure within the business, acting as the link between the Directors and the wider team. This is a varied, hands-on position combining business management, operational leadership, financial oversight, compliance, HR and marketing.

The successful individual will take ownership of the day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring processes are efficient, regulatory requirements are met and the business plan is delivered effectively. Equally important will be the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, bring people together and help shape the next stage of the firm's growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking responsibility, making a tangible difference and being an integral part of a close-knit, successful business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Planning & Leadership: Work closely with the Directors to implement the business plan, monitor performance against objectives and ensure priorities are delivered.
  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day running of the practice, developing effective processes, procedures and service standards to improve efficiency and maintain high standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk: Maintain oversight of the firm's regulatory obligations, governance, operational risk and compliance framework, working alongside the Directors and external compliance support.
  • Financial Management: Oversee business finances, budgets, cash flow forecasts, management information and financial reporting, providing the Directors with clear insight into business performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen the business, improve workflows and introduce initiatives that support sustainable growth.

About You

You will be an organised, proactive and commercially aware individual with experience in a financial planning or financial services environment. Comfortable operating across multiple areas of a business, you will combine strong analytical and organisational skills with the confidence to manage people, oversee processes and work closely with senior stakeholders.

You will bring a practical, hands-on approach, excellent attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture. Just as importantly, you will enjoy being part of a small team where collaboration, accountability and a willingness to get involved are essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • At least three years' relevant experience within financial services, ideally with a strong background in financial planning.
  • Excellent knowledge of the financial services industry and relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting or managing a team.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including experience with budgets, forecasting and business performance reporting.
  • Experience across business operations, process improvement and general practice management.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

What's on Offer?

  • Basic salary of up to £60,000, depending on experience.
  • Discretionary bonus.
  • Company benefits.
  • Hybrid working.
  • The opportunity to join a highly regarded, fully independent financial planning practice.
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment where individual contributions are recognised.
  • A varied and influential role with genuine scope to shape the business and improve how it operates.
  • The opportunity to work closely with the Directors and play a key role in the firm's continued organic growth.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

This is more than a traditional Practice Manager position. It is an opportunity to become a vital part of a successful, independent financial planning business, taking ownership of its operations and helping create the foundations for its next phase of growth.
