Senior Data Engineer - Insurance / Team Lead Role 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join a Tier 1 insurance firm and lead the development of a data platform. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for optimising and improving how the latest technologies are leveraged to efficiently ingest data into systems and surface it for analytics and operations. Additionally, you will be coaching and mentoring a small team of highly skilled data engineers, fostering their growth and development.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop robust tools to automate the on-boarding of data into systems
  • Design and implement automated ETL pipelines to streamline the movement and transformation of data within our systems
  • Develop Master Data Management (MDM) solutions to ensure data consistency and accuracy across the organization
  • Ensure data is made available and accessible for Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable solutions
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and best practices to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities
  • Mentor and up skill the data team, providing guidance, training, and coaching to foster their professional growth
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team and across the organisation

Key Skills

  • Extensive experience in data engineering, with a deep understanding of data architectures and data management principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python, and SQL
  • Strong experience developing automated ETL pipelines and data integration techniques
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) systems
  • Familiarity with data science workloads and techniques is a plus
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proven experience in mentoring and up-skilling team members, with strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies and industry trends
  • Problem-solving mindset and a passion for continuous improvement and optimization
