You may already be an experienced Paraplanner, producing good-quality work and supporting complex cases, but feel there is limited scope to increase your influence or take the next step within your current company.

You would join an established, privately owned wealth management firm where Paraplanners are trusted to contribute beyond report writing. You will work closely with experienced Financial Advisers, support a varied range of private clients and have opportunities to become involved in technical development, internal training and the continued improvement of the firm’s advice process.

The company

The business has been established for more than 20 years and provides bespoke financial planning and private wealth management advice to professionals, senior executives, entrepreneurs and other private clients.

Its advice covers investments, retirement planning, tax planning and wealth protection, with an emphasis on building lasting client relationships and creating strategies around each client’s individual circumstances.

This is a close-knit business where you will have access to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to the wider firm.

The role

You will provide technical support across the Financial Adviser team, with responsibilities including:

• Producing accurate and compliant suitability reports within agreed timescales
• Assisting with the preparation of client portfolio reviews
• Conducting research across pensions, investments and other financial planning products
• Producing client cash flow models
• Responding to technical queries from clients and colleagues
• Monitoring recommended providers, products and financial planning structures
• Helping to maintain preferred provider panels
• Updating standard report wording, technical resources and internal planning tools
• Supporting the training and development of colleagues
• Producing technical updates for clients and professional introducers when appropriate
• Working closely with Financial Advisers to deliver consistently high standards of client service

About you

This position is designed for an experienced Paraplanner who can contribute from an early stage.

You must:

• Have at least three years’ relevant Paraplanning experience
• Be currently working in a full Paraplanning role
• Have strong technical knowledge, including comprehensive pensions experience
• Be experienced in producing accurate and compliant suitability reports
• Possess strong research, analytical and written communication skills
• Be comfortable supporting varied and potentially complex financial planning cases
• Be competent in Excel to at least an intermediate level
• Enjoy working collaboratively as part of an office-based team

The Level 4 Diploma is preferred. However, candidates who are still working towards the qualification may be considered where they have sufficient experience and can demonstrate strong technical ability.

Where could the role lead?

This does not need to be another Paraplanning position where your responsibilities remain unchanged for the next several years.

If you want to continue developing as a technical specialist, you could progress into a more senior position involving complex cases, technical resources, internal training and the development of other team members.

Depending on your strengths and longer-term ambitions, there may also be opportunities to move towards technical leadership, management or financial advice.

The firm provides exam support and training, including support for those who want to continue towards the Advanced Diploma and Chartered status.
