We are delighted to be working with an established financial services business to recruit a Senior Financial Planner to join its Financial Planning team.
This is a senior, client-facing opportunity with responsibility for an established portfolio of high-value clients, alongside a strong focus on delivering comprehensive financial planning and developing long-term client and professional relationships.
The successful individual will be based from the Poole office, with regular travel across Dorset to meet clients and build relationships with professional introducers.
The Role
The Senior Financial Planner will take ownership of an established client portfolio with circa £25m of assets under management, with an average client relationship of approximately £500,000.
Clients typically have investable assets ranging from £200,000 to £1.5m, requiring a high-quality, holistic approach to financial planning and ongoing relationship management.
The role will involve providing complex financial advice across areas including retirement planning, investment management, tax planning and estate planning, whilst ensuring a consistently high level of client service and regulatory compliance.
Alongside managing and developing the existing portfolio, the role will have a strong commercial element, with responsibility for identifying new opportunities through referrals, professional partnerships, networking and relationship development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop an established portfolio of high-value clients, providing proactive and tailored financial planning advice.
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients and professional introducers.
- Provide comprehensive advice across retirement, investment, tax and estate planning.
- Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships and generate new business.
- Maintain a strong business development pipeline and contribute to regional growth.
- Work collaboratively with Paraplanners and Client Executives to deliver an efficient and high-quality client experience.
- Take ownership of key client relationships and contribute to client retention strategies.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex client requirements.
- Support and mentor less experienced Financial Planners, sharing technical knowledge and best practice.
- Contribute to wider team initiatives, process improvements and the development of financial planning technology.
- Maintain exemplary standards of FCA compliance, risk management and advice quality.
The role profile places particular emphasis on managing complex, high-value client relationships, delivering advanced financial planning advice and contributing to wider business development activity.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced Financial Planner with a strong technical background and a proven track record of advising high-value clients.
Key requirements include:
- Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning (or equivalent) or above.
- Proven experience providing regulated financial advice to high-value clients.
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and compliance.
- Experience delivering holistic financial planning across areas such as retirement, investments, tax and estate planning.
- Strong relationship management skills and a genuine client-first approach.
- Commercial awareness and experience identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Confidence building relationships with professional introducers and external partners.
- Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- High levels of attention to detail and ownership of client outcomes.
- Experience with financial planning and CRM systems such as CashCalc, Intelliflo or similar would be advantageous.
Location & Working Pattern
A degree of hybrid working is available, with the expectation that the successful candidate will spend regular time in the Poole office, particularly during the initial period of building relationships with colleagues, clients and professional introducers.
Package
- Salary up to £98,000, dependent on experience.
- Discretionary bonus of up to 30% of salary.
