An established financial planning business in Wakefield is looking to appoint an experienced Personal Assistant or Office Manager to play a central role in the day-to-day running of the firm.
This is a deliberately flexible appointment. The position could suit an accomplished PA who is comfortable supporting senior professionals in a busy, regulated environment, or someone with broader office and operational management experience who can take ownership of processes, people and the smooth running of the business.
The company provides holistic financial planning to individuals, families and business owners, covering investments, retirement planning, protection, estate planning and corporate services. It has a strong focus on building long-term client relationships and delivering personal, tailored advice.
Working closely with the Managing Director, Financial Planners and support team, you will become a trusted and influential member of the business.
Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:
• Providing high-level PA and organisational support to the Managing Director and senior team
• Managing diaries, meetings, correspondence and competing priorities
• Coordinating the day-to-day running of the Wakefield office
• Acting as a central point of contact for colleagues, clients and external providers
• Supporting internal communication and ensuring actions are followed through
• Reviewing and improving administrative and operational processes
• Helping to manage workloads, deadlines and service standards across the team
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding, training and other people-related administration
• Coordinating suppliers, facilities and general office requirements
• Assisting with projects and wider business initiatives
• Ensuring appropriate records and procedures are maintained within a regulated environment
For someone joining at Office Manager or Operations Manager level, there will be scope to take greater ownership of team coordination, systems, workflows and the continued development of the firm’s operational structure.
About you
You will be organised, dependable and capable of bringing structure to a busy professional environment. You should be comfortable working closely with senior people, using your initiative and handling confidential information with discretion.
Previous experience within financial planning, wealth management or another regulated financial services business would be highly advantageous. Experience within a St. James’s Place practice or the wider SJP environment would be particularly valuable.
You may currently be working as a:
• Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant
• Office Manager
• Practice Manager
• Operations Manager
• Senior Financial Planning Administrator with wider operational responsibilities
The company is open-minded about the precise level of the appointment and will shape the responsibilities around the successful candidate’s strengths.

• 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
• Private health insurance
• Predominantly office-based in Wakefield
• The possibility of one day per week working from home, although the preference is for someone who is happy to maintain a strong presence in the office
