Senior Paraplanner

  • Trowbridge
  • Permanent
  • £50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus and benefits

Job details.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Paraplanner to join a highly regarded, fully independent financial planning practice based in Trowbridge.

This established and successful firm has built an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional, long-term financial planning advice to High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients across the local region and throughout the UK. With a strong focus on building lasting client relationships, the business prides itself on providing a truly holistic approach to financial planning and maintaining the highest standards of service.

Due to continued growth, the firm is now seeking a Senior Paraplanner to join its highly skilled technical support team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who is looking to take the next step in their career, combining advanced technical paraplanning responsibilities with an element of leadership and mentorship within the team.

The Role

Working closely with a team of highly successful Financial Advisers, you will provide comprehensive technical support across a range of complex client cases, helping to deliver high-quality financial planning solutions.

The role will have two key focuses:

Senior Paraplanning

  • Preparing detailed suitability reports and technical recommendations across pensions, investments, retirement planning, protection and wider wealth planning areas
  • Conducting in-depth research, analysis and cashflow modelling to support client recommendations
  • Working closely with Financial Advisers before and after client meetings to ensure efficient and accurate advice delivery
  • Reviewing existing client arrangements and identifying opportunities for further planning
  • Supporting complex and high-value client cases from initial research through to implementation
  • Maintaining regular communication with advisers and clients, providing technical input throughout the advice process

Team Support & Mentorship

  • Acting as a senior point of contact within the paraplanning team for technical queries, complex cases and problem-solving
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the paraplanning team, helping to develop their technical knowledge and confidence
  • Providing guidance and oversight to ensure consistently high standards across the team
  • Taking a lead role in improving processes and supporting the continued growth of the technical support function

This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical paraplanning but is also looking to develop their leadership capabilities, with a pathway towards a Paraplanning Team Leader position in the near future.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Paraplanner who is looking for a role where they can make a wider contribution and play a key part in the continued success of the business.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant experience working within a paraplanning role within an independent financial planning environment
  • Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, retirement planning, and holistic financial planning
  • Level 4 Diploma qualified as a minimum, with Chartered status or progress towards Chartered desirable
  • Experience supporting complex HNW/UHNW client cases
  • Excellent report writing skills with a strong eye for detail and accuracy
  • The confidence to act as a technical sounding board for advisers and colleagues
  • A proactive approach with the ability to support and mentor less experienced team members
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with advisers, clients, and internal teams

What’s on Offer

  • Basic salary up to £60,000
  • Additional bonus opportunity
  • Excellent company benefits package
  • Hybrid working arrangement
  • Opportunity to join a highly respected and successful independent financial planning practice
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Access to a strong internal support structure, including junior paraplanners and IFA administrators
  • Clear career progression, including the opportunity to develop into a Paraplanning Team Leader role

The role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys being office-based for part of the week, with the ability to collaborate closely with advisers and the wider team. The company operates a flexible hybrid approach and for an exceptional individual, they would consider a reduced office presence (potentially around one day per week following an initial bedding-in period).

This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious Senior Paraplanner to join a successful, independent financial planning firm where they can continue to develop technically, take on leadership responsibilities, and play an important role in delivering outstanding outcomes for clients.
