Wealth Planner – York (Hybrid, 3 days office-based)

Salary: Up to £80,000 + discretionary bonus + excellent benefits
Reports to: Head of Wealth (and locally to the York Investment Management lead)
Chartered or close to Chartered status required

The Company

Our client is a long-established and highly respected Investment Management firm, managing in excess of £11bn of client assets and supporting over 18,000 active client relationships. Over the past six years, they have developed a first-class Wealth Planning proposition to complement their established Investment Management service, offering clients a truly holistic financial solution.

The firm combines a heritage of trusted, personalised advice with a forward-looking approach to financial planning. Their Wealth Planning division continues to grow steadily, supported by strong internal referrals and a culture of collaboration between Wealth Planners and Investment Managers.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Wealth Planner to join the firm’s York office. This position forms a key part of their ongoing growth strategy and offers significant potential to build upon an existing base of high-quality clients and internal relationships.

This is a senior and self-sufficient role, working closely with the York-based Investment Management team and reporting directly to the Head of Wealth. The successful candidate will be the sole Wealth Planner in York and will work in partnership with local Investment Managers who actively involve Financial Planners in client meetings.

The role offers hybrid working, with three days per week in the York office and flexibility around client meetings and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive Wealth Planning advice across pensions, investments, protection, estate planning, and tax-efficient strategies

  • Work collaboratively with Investment Managers to identify opportunities, attend joint client meetings, and enhance the overall client proposition

  • Manage your own client cases and ensure excellent service delivery from first contact through to implementation

  • Utilise the firm’s dedicated financial planning CRM system for workflow and case management

  • Delegate administrative tasks effectively to the Wealth Planning administrator and ensure compliance standards are met

  • Contribute to wider business initiatives designed to enhance client experience and strengthen the Wealth Planning proposition

  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of legislation, taxation, and financial planning developments

About You

  • Level 6 / Chartered Financial Planner status (or close to achieving it)

  • Proven experience delivering holistic financial advice to high-net-worth or private clients

  • Commercially minded, collaborative, and confident working alongside senior Investment Managers

  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to explain complex matters clearly and credibly to clients

  • Self-sufficient and proactive, able to build trusted relationships both internally and externally

What’s on Offer

  • Base salary: Up to £80,000 (higher for exceptional candidates)

  • Discretionary annual bonus (historically strong)

  • Pension: Up to 8% employer contribution (salary sacrifice)

  • Private medical and dental insurance (BUPA & Denplan)

  • Life assurance: 4x salary

  • Enhanced family leave policies (26 weeks full pay maternity, 4 weeks full pay paternity)

  • Additional benefits:

    • 25 days annual leave plus 2 additional days at Christmas

    • Season ticket loan and electric car scheme

    • Gym discounts, wellbeing events, and employee assistance services

    • Hybrid working policy (minimum 3 days per week in office)

Why Apply

This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in a highly regarded, client-focused Investment Management business. You’ll work closely with experienced Investment Managers, benefit from a strong stream of internal referrals, and have the freedom to shape and grow the Wealth Planning presence in York. The firm offers a supportive, collaborative environment where quality advice and genuine client relationships are valued above all else.
